Nightcap Waterfall Walk
Don't see the world through the window of a bus/car! Why not get out and take a guided walks the amazing Nightcap National Park? Take a guided 6 km walk, through three different forests, past three waterfalls, along an amazing creek. Learn more about the natural history and the human history of the area. (Moderate walks includes some hills). BYO lunch and water.
Walk days: Tuesday, Friday and Sunday. Other days can be arranged, just give us a call.
Duration: 5 hours ex Byron (walk time – 2.5 hours)
Who can go?
Anyone over 10 years old; who can walk for 4-5km without help.
Minimum of 2 people - Maximum of 10.
Where to go and when
You will be picked up from the scheduled pickup points at Ballina, Lennox Head, Suffolk Park or Byron Bay (Other pickups can be arranged). We take you to the National Park for your guided walk and then return you to your pick-up point.

What to bring
- Wear a pair of sturdy covered shoes. Thongs and sandals are not acceptable.
- Bring a raincoat (the weather is changeable in the ranges).
- Bring water (750ml should be enough).
- Bring your lunch and any trail snacks.
- Bring sunscreen and a hat.

Koala Day Walk
Take a walk amongst the gum trees near Lismore to observe that great Aussie icon the Koala. The walk is on private land which has been set aside as a koala sanctuary as it has a large population of wild koalas who live there. Koala sightings are guaranteed. Includes: damper with tea and coffee from Gunnawannabe café (Aboriginal café and gallery) – must be 4 or more people for café visit.
Where to go and when
Byron Bay, Suffolk Park, Lennox Head, Ballina, or Lismore (Other pickups can be arranged e.g Bangalow). We take you to the property for your guided walk and then return you to your pick-up point.

About Nightcap National Park
The Nightcap ranges form the southern rim of the massive Tweed volcano caldera, one of the largest and best preserved of its type in the world. Mt Warning (Wollumbin) is the plug from this extinct shield volcano which once had a diameter of over 100km.
The first humans to inhabit the area were the Widjabul people from the Bunjalung nation. They lived with and protected the land until white settlement. During the past 150 years the trees were logged and land cleared. Until 1979 when a determined group of people refused to let this significant ecosystem be logged any longer. They engaged in the first environmental direct action that acted as a template that also stopped the Franklin dam and the logging of the Daintree.
As a result we now have Nightcap National Park – two thirds of which have been declared a World Heritage area. Whian Whian State Conservation Area which is adjacent to Nightcap offers has an important role which protects the catchment area of Rock Creek Dam, provides an extended protection zone for Nightcap and protects threatened species.
All this natural and human history is on the doorstep of Byron Bay, Ballina and Lismore. So why not get out there, check it out and enjoy it?
